Xantrex has added a new lightweight sine wave inverter to its Freedom X lineup.
The Freedom XC Pro inverter/charger comes in 2,000- and 3,000-watt models, and weighs in at just 18.5 lb. That, the company says, makes it the lightest and most compact inverter in its class.
It’s more than 50-lb. lighter than the transformer-based models before it.
Despite the compact size it can generate five seconds of a temporary power boost, for up to double the inverter’s watt rating. That’s meant to handle the initial surges that come from appliances like microwaves and induction cooktops, as well as power tools.
Most other inverters offer surge power for less than a second, Xantrex says.
Built-in communication capabilities will send commands directly to the inverter, so there’s no need to juggle different voltage settings and set points to ensure engine auto starting.
As a pure sine wave inverter, the Freedom XC is also able to deliver the consistent power needed for computers and CPAP machines, the company says.
The Freedom XC Pro 2,000-watt inverter is standard with a built-in 100-amp battery charger. The 3,000-watt model features a 150-amp battery charger.
