Volvo gives operators power over engine updates

January 9, 2021

Volvo’s new Driver Display Activation feature places the power over remote engine updates into operator hands, giving drivers the ability to activate over-the-air system updates within minutes.

Rather than requiring a call to a Volvo Action Service Agent to initiate a remote update, this cuts the updating time in half and allows the work at any time, Volvo says.

Pilot tests over the past four months included dealer stock trucks, and more than 500 customer trucks at 15 different fleets.

All new Volvo trucks will have the Driver Display Activation interface available at no charge for the first two years, as part of a bundle with Volvo Trucks Remote Diagnostics.

Those with Model Year 2018 and older trucks can apply a conversion kit available through the Volvo Premium Tech Tool diagnostic application, in a process that takes less than an hour, the company says.
