Peterbilt has introduced several upgrades to its vocational Model 567 and 520 trucks – including a new VMUX electrical system to offer added functionality that can be leveraged by body builders.
Exterior updates to the Model 567 include a cab-mounted side mirror, an optional bright air intake bezel, and a bigger DEF tank.
Inside it features the 15-inch digital display that was launched with the new Model 579. The display’s user interface will fully integrate with the PTO, and drivers can fine tune it using controls on the new smart steering wheel.
The display also integrates with the Model 567’s safety systems including lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with auto resume, speed sign recognition, side object detection, safety direct integration, multi-lane emergency braking, and highway departure detection.
The truck’s B and C panels can be customized, while in-cab features include additional storage, two cup holders, and options for 12-volt or USB charging ports.
When combined Paccar’s latest MX-13 and MX-11 engines and a Paccar transmission, the truck has also improved its fuel efficiency by 2%.
Model 520 updates
Model 520 upgrades, meanwhile, include a seven-inch digital display in the center of the instrument cluster, where the speedometer, tachometer, and water and oil temperature gauges can be found.
Information about advanced driver assistance systems, PTO status, systems checks and more are conveyed through a “card system”. Drivers navigate through those messages using a knob found to the right of the steering column.
That truck, which added electronic stability controls last September, can now be spec’d with Bendix Fusion with side objection detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with auto resume, and speed sign recognition.
