OPP Update – Fatal Collision Halton-Erin Townline

October 21, 2017

On Saturday October 21, 2017 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Halton Hills Fire Department, Halton Region Paramedic Services and Halton Regional Police Service responded to a fatal collision involving two motor vehicles on The Halton-Erin Townline, near Acton. A Dodge minivan and Kia SUV collided head on.

The driver of the Kia, a 37-year-old male from Brampton, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 37-year-old wife was rushed to local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge, a 20-year-old male from Markdale, was rushed to a trauma centre where he is being treated for life threatening injuries. (There were no other people involved.)

The name of the deceased will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and speed may have been a factor. The Halton-Erin Townline between the Fourth Line and Fifth Line will remain closed until investigators have completed the investigation. Charges may be pending.

The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to please call 1-888-310-1122.
