The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen three-axle commercial motor vehicle being driven on the 401 Highway westbound lanes on March 22, 2020 around 6:00 p.m.
Officers from Oxford, Middlesex, and London Highway Safety Division (HSD) strategically followed the stolen vehicle, while others officers set up tire deflation devices (spike belts).
The vehicle continually failed to stop for police and eventually lost a front tire after striking one of the spike belts. The vehicle entered into the ditch area near Dorchester Road where officers arrested a fleeing driver.
At this time 33-year-old Sandeep Takhar of Brampton, Ontario is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous driving X2
The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice Woodstock.
No officers were injured during the incident.
