CarriersEdge has added Healthy Eating and Exercise for Drivers content to its online training library.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only 25% of truck drivers report getting enough physical activity in a week, CarriersEdge notes. Studies in the last decade have also shown that the prevalence of obesity among drivers is almost double that of the general population.
The two titles are designed to help drivers make healthier choices when it comes to diet and exercise, and the material completes a suite of nine wellness modules developed in the past year.
Other topics in the suite include recognizing and managing fatigue, measures to protect against illness, and information about viruses and vaccines.
Healthy Eating offers a three-step process to help choose the right foods, read food labels, and recognize how marketing tries to influence food purchases. Exercise for Drivers, meanwhile, explains the risks of a sedentary lifestyle, exercises that can be modified for any fitness level, and how to examine a fitness mindset.
