At the annual convention of the Ontario Trucking Association Manitoulin Group of Companies dispatcher Bill Temple was named Ontario’s 2008 OTA/Shaw Tracking Dispatcher of the Year.
“The award goes to a dispatcher who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to customer service, safety, driver well being, courtesy, team work, problem solving and community service/ volunteer work,” says OTA President David Bradley. “Dispatchers perform a critical role in the supply chain and it is a pleasure to recognize one of the best.”
"Unlike any other program of its kind, the Dispatcher of the Year Award is a strong testament to hard work and dedication from the people who matter most – customers and fellow peers. The evaluation process of this award is based on ongoing commitment to customer service, safety, driver well being, courtesy, team work, problem solving, and community service/volunteer work," said Mike Ham, Vice President Business Services, Shaw Tracking.
Temple has devoted the lion’s share of his entire career to the field of dispatch, having spent 30 of his 38 years at Manitoulin at the dispatch desk. Temple started his in career in the 1970s loading freight on to trucks at JET Transport Ltd. in Mississauga. He quickly rose through the ranks and was in just a few short years offered the job of dispatcher.
At the ceremony, Bill was presented with a keepsake plaque and a cash award. |
